This is especially relevant for aeronautical applications with a TRL of four to six, but also to other applications, such as wind turbine rotor blades. Representing the processes involved in a simulative way is essential for the efficient implementation of research tasks and also offers the possibility of transferring acquired knowledge to different process and cycle rates.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"AbteilungPRT2023-Kompetenzen\">Areas of competence<\/h4>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\">On the equipment side, the range of the <strong>Production Technologies Department<\/strong> covers manufacturing scenarios from press, RTM and autoclave technologies to fibre laying and filament winding technologies. All of the facilities are digitally interconnected and are equipped with <\/span><span class=\"fontstyle0\">the latest control<\/span> and quality assurance technologies. Production <span class=\"fontstyle0\">costs as well as resource<\/span> and <span class=\"fontstyle0\">energy efficiency<\/span> are evaluated. <\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Overview of the large-scale facilities:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\"><strong><a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dlr.de\/content\/de\/grossforschungsanlagen\/forschungsplattform-grofi.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">GroFi<span class=\"fontstyle1\">\u00ae<\/span><\/a>:<\/strong> Scenario-flexible research platform for multi-robotic<\/span> fibre placement \/ tape laying and winding processes. Component sizes up to 18 metres by 5.5 metres.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dlr.de\/content\/de\/grossforschungsanlagen\/evo.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">EVo<\/a><\/strong>: Research platform for fully automated textile preforming and RTM processes to realise large volumes in FRP component production. Component footprint up to 2.0 metres by 2.5 metres.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dlr.de\/content\/de\/grossforschungsanlagen\/forschungsautoklav-balu.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">BALU<span class=\"fontstyle1\">\u00ae<\/span>:<\/a><\/strong> Research autoclave for effective heating methods, and simulation-supported and resource-efficient curing and consolidation processes. Loading dimensions up to 20 metres by 5.8 metres, pressure up to 10 bar and temperatures up to 420 degrees Celsius; sensor networks for quality-assurance monitoring of large structures.<\/li>\n<li><strong>MACS<a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dlr.de\/sy\/en\/desktopdefault.aspx\/tabid-10589\/18572_read-43239\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u00ae<\/a><\/strong>: Research autoclave with optional microwave heating and video surveillance. Loading dimensions up to 4.0 metres by 1.6 metres, pressures up to 10 bar and temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius; 1.2 metres by 1.2 metres laboratory autoclave, pressure up to 10 bar and
