It is very important to consider the entire life cycle from component production to reusability or disposal. This is therefore reflected in new simulation methods and their software implementation. Innovative test methods complete the procedure. They allow phenomenological analysis and validation of the new simulation methods at different levels of the test pyramid. Together with international partners and in interdisciplinary teams of scientists, the research focuses on the following areas:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Efficient design methods<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Innovative test and measurement methods at component level<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Virtual structures and digital twin for the entire life cycle<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><!--more--><\/h5>\n<h5><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Competences<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\">The department carries out phenomenological investigations of the complex structural behaviour under multi-physical loads. Experimental, analytical and numerical methods are used for this purpose. New computational methods allow a more accurate and efficient prediction of the material and struc-tural behaviour as well as their robustness evaluation considering inherent uncertainties. This is the basis for future simulation-based certification. The validation of the calculation methods is carried out by means of continuously developed test pro-cedures and new innovative test
